Principal's Corner
Hello Dragon Families,
The return of our 5th grade students from Camp Koinonia in late March was a wonderful experience for students, staff, and families. So much preparation and teamwork goes into making this event happen for our 5th grade Dragons. Many thanks to parents who volunteered and trusted us to give students that experience up in the mountains!
Our yearbook is coming together thanks to all the photos and contributions by our classroom volunteers. Preserving our memories and experiences is a wonderful way to reflect on a year of growth and all you’ve done and continue to do for our Dragons. We couldn’t do it without you!
After Spring Break, our year will accelerate dramatically with state assessments beginning in mid-April and all the end of year events planned for May just around the corner. Stay updated by frequently checking our calendar on the DeLaveaga website and checking your email for upcoming events. Dia del Nino, a new community event celebrating children with food/games, will be held on our blacktop on April 27th and it will also feature a talent show. Your student may sign-up at school or through this sign-up link.

Last chance to help support the school and donate items to help the upcoming Auction in May. Please take a look at a few suggestions below and consider donating your time & services to the Auction.
Do you surf? Could you donate 2 hours of time to teach a few kids to surf?
Are you an artist? Could you donate some of your art or consider teaching a small art class?
Are you a tutor? Could you provide 1-2 free sessions?
Do you work at a salon? Could you provide a free haircut or nail treatment?
Are you a season ticket owner to the SF Giants, SJ Giants, SC Warriors, Golden State Warriors, SJ Sharks, SJ Earthquakes, the Symphony? Would you be willing to put two tickets up for bidding at the raffle?
What else could you do that others may be interested to bid on? The possibilities are endless!
The Carnival team is also looking for a few extra hands to help make it a success and a few items for the event.
We need a Games Lead to meet the vendors, make sure the inflatables are set-up in time and keep an eye on the games throughout the night.
We need a Grill Master to help at the grill area & shadow this year (hopefully take over next year). Maybe convince a friend and take on this fun part of the Carnival together!
Have an old apron that you don’t use anymore? Consider donating that to the Cotton Candy booth because our parent volunteers will need some protection from the mess!
We spend $75 per pop-up rental…Do you have one that you can donate to the school? We’re looking for an EZ up, it needs to be sturdy, not a sun up.

Join the Zoom Call “Online Safety” April 9, 6:30 - 7:30pm
DeLa PTC is excited to host this third, of three, seminars designed to support parents and primary caregivers on Online Safety. Please join us virtually for an hour seminar followed by a 30min Q&A.
Please note these sessions will not be recorded, so we hope you can attend.

Sign up for this year's She.Is.Beautiful "Santa Cruz County School Challenge" 5k and 10k race. All genders, ages and ability levels (including a stroller division) are invited to come together to celebrate the joy of health and community! The event will take place on Saturday May 11th.
Register at www.runsheisbeautiful.com. All children except those riding in a stroller need their own registration. In the registration process join "Team DeLaveaga." If you have already registered for the race, please email Sara at sara@runsheisbeautiful.com to be added to Team DeLaveaga.
