Principal's Corner
Dear Dragon Families,
As we embark on another exciting school year, I am honored and privileged to welcome 487 students and work alongside your families. I am grateful for your continued support and optimism, and I look forward to discovering new ways to help each of your children learn and grow.
This year, we are committed to building a strong school community where we support one another through the joys and challenges alike. When we work together, we create an environment where every child can thrive. I know how much you love your children, and that shared commitment to their success is what makes our school truly special.
Establishing morning routines is crucial for promoting safety, timeliness, and nutrition, all of which contribute to our students' emotional health. I encourage you to give yourselves plenty of time to prepare in the morning and consider starting some routines the night before such as packing lunches, selecting clothing, and getting backpacks ready for school.
Our dedicated teachers have been working hard to foster safe learning communities, emphasizing the Dragon Way: Respect and Kindness, Responsibility, and Safety. Morning supervision begins at 8:00 AM, and if you wish to enjoy breakfast at school with your child, it is served starting at 7:45 AM. I am pleased to share that breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year!
I also want to invite you to support the PTC Pledge Drive. Your contribution makes our school extra special by funding additional services in LifeLab, our Library, learning interventions, and field trips. These are experiences that enrich our students' education and strengthen our community.
Thank you for being a vital part of our school community. I am excited to be here with you this year and grateful for the partnership we share in supporting our students.

🧺 Picnic - Friday, August 28
Bring a blanket and your own picnic dinner and join us on the back field to build community, connect with old friends and make new ones. This is a low-key social event for the whole family. We will be selling dragon merchandise!
🐉 2026 Pledge Drive
We are excited to welcome you to the 2026-27 school year and invite you to participate in our Annual Pledge Drive!
Last year we raised over $57,000 to support our students, staff, and the DeLaveaga Elementary School community, and this year we have set a goal of $60,000, as our student population continues to grow!
Your gift will directly support:
Students – Graduation activities, playground improvements, student assemblies, student council, and subsidized yearbooks for low-income students, are all supported with Pledge Drive funds.
Staff – Our incredible library, Life Lab, yard duty, educational support, classroom supplies (“teacher grants”), and front office staff are partially funded with resources from this Pledge Drive. Our school relies on your contributions to make it an amazing place for our children.
Community – Bike to School Day, the Holiday Parade, Carnival, Walk-A-Thon, and other community events all rely on funds from this Pledge Drive. These fun, educational events are what make DeLaveaga such a special place for our kids to learn and grow.
We are proud of DeLaveaga Elementary School – of our students, staff, and community. Give now, and help to make this our best year yet!
